The Devil's Survival Guide

The next day I was released.  Since then, I haven’t had any problems with anger or rage.  In fact, I’ve felt more docile than I have in years.  Best of all, I was able to make amends at the convenience store.  My job started to really take off, and things just got better and better.  The moral of my story, I guess, is this:  if you have demons, it’s better to face them sooner than later.  Otherwise, they’ll just hang around, and ruin your life.  Do you get what I’m saying?  What are you typing?  And where are my bags?

[Nothing else of Mr. Hansen’s story bears mentioning.  However, it elicits a very curious response.  Is it mere allegory?  Is Mr. Hansen insane?  He told me that he does not drink, nor does he partake in any drugs.  I do not believe him the possessor of a deranged mind.  What, then did he see in that cell?  And why has nothing else of the sort ever been reported by other men?  The true nature of things and Things such as these, I fear, may never be known to man, as long as he lives.
Yours in accurate relation,
James P. Whitterfern]
