The Latest From Cornhusk Records
By. Davenger Mendes

Greetings one and all!  Bob Cougat here.  Say, its almost summer and here we are, listening to the same old yuk until those DJs pound it into the ground.  Have faith, dear listeners, because Cornhusk Records is shuckin’ out a fresh load of new talent this summer.  So no matter your genre, if you’re lookin’ for a platter that matters, or a tape you just can’t escape, look no further than the Cornhusk Records Summer Lineup!

COUNTRY
Fresh off the Branson scene, and about to kick off his first national tour in support of his new album, Kenny Skiggs is heading your way!  The album?  Deep in the Heart of Texaco.  Why you should get it?

“Skiggs is the real deal.  His pop sensibilities shine through what would otherwise be another ‘I lost my truck’ venture…Skiggs manages to steer the jalopy home in one piece…Tracks like [Snuff You Like a Marlboro] are oddly reminiscent of an older (and wiser) Willie Nelson.”
-Dame Travis, Relinquish Magazine

“Skiggs ripped my heart out and played it like a harmonica.”
-Don Eslund,  Harp-Oh! Magazine

The new album is a follow up to last year’s EP, Songs For People Who Drive Septic Tank Trucks, and features all the showstoppers Skiggs has been using to wow his Branson audiences for the past three years.  It also includes his hit single (US version only), Alabama Slamma (With a Bitch Slap Mama).  Reserve your copy today, because like Kenny’s ex-wife(s), “she may not be there when you get there.”  Amen.

RAP/ HIP HOP

Put your hands together.  Yeah, you heard me.  Fresh out of the studio, comes the sophomore effort from the self proclaimed “Rennaissance of White Rap.”  If you haven’t heard of Vanilla Snow, then you will soon enough.  Front man Snowy-Z proclaims that this is their most “volatile” release to date, and critics seem to agree.

“This one sticks to the two E’s.  Explosive, and eclectic.  I buying two so I’ll have another when I wear the first one out.”
-Jason Meatwater, Mo-Skink Review

“This is it.  This is the jizz.”
-Skeet Filcher, former front man for Senate Subcommittee

Vanilla J and Snowy Z have long had their collective finger on the pulse of urban white America, but they really let loose with this one.  The album will hit shelves this July, followed in August by the cleaner version that will be available at all the Wal-Marts in the greater Midwest.  Our censors agree, this one could take sometime.  The boys in the white fuzz really deliver this time, drawing from the mind-bending experiences they’ve accrued, beat boxing it in the streets of Skokie, Illinois:
Vanilla J’s in the house/ So y’all better look out/ Y’all get your books out/
Start readin’/ Geeks be nose bleedin’/ Feedin’ your minds on my rhymes/ Cause that what you be needin’
This one is not to be missed.

POP ROCK

Fresh out of the studio, Johnny Fly and The East Coast Regionals are breaking out this summer with their first full album of non-Springsteen covers.  The album, Salutations From Ashford Park, California reinvigorates what has long been considered to be the “dead” rock scene.  So get your bandanas ready for The Bandana Song, and put your hands together as Johnny and his line up put their hands together on such tracks as, Put Your Hands Together, and, You Know Those Hands That God Gave Ya? (Why Don’t You Put Them Together).  The album also features an exclusive, bonus live track [US version only—sorry] of the boys in blue and red at last years IBS Relief Concert, playing The Standells, Dirty Water.  Here’s what some of the critics are saying:

“Oddly symphonic.  With such a sparse lineup, the sound is surprisingly full…One of those albums where there’s something to like about every track.  You know, like Travis.”
-Gil Bateman, Kiskogee Springs Review of New Music

“I’m just happy that someone [Derek Parsons] has managed to breathe new life into the great American guitar solo.  What a rush!”
-Tommy 2 Tuff, nee of Tuff Luvv

Sorry folks.  You’re just gonna have to keep rubbing those twenties together until June!

Well, thanks for tuning in, and I would remind you that this is only a taste of what Cornhusk has in store for you, this glorious summer of ’05.  Complete tour dates, and album release schedules are available at our website, as well as the entire backlist of great Cornhusk titles.  Order both these albums simultaneously, and ten percent of your purchase will be used to reinstate the nation of Lithuania.  We all have our dreams, and Cornhusk Records is trying to make them come true.  One.
