Where are Mom and Dad?

Where are Mom and Dad?
On a bright, sun-shining day Gilbert the Giraffe sprinted over to his friend Buttons the Bear’s house. Gilbert was upset. His parents were gone!
“Buttons! Buttons! Hurry come quick! My mommy and daddy are missing!” Gilbert cried.
“Where did they go? Calm down we can go find them. Did someone take them somewhere?” Buttons said calmly.
“I think they are in the zoo! Let’s go get them. I don’t want them to be in the zoo forever!” Gilbert explained.
Buttons continued to try to calm Gilbert down and they went to the zoo. Their first stop in the zoo was the water area.
“Maybe they would be in the water area. You never know, they could have been thirsty! Let’s go!” Gilbert said to Buttons.
As they trotted into the aquarium area Gilbert hurried to each window and gazed in them for his parents. He spotted the panda bear in his large tank.
“Mr. Panda Bear, excuse me. Have you seen my parents? I think they are here in the zoo and I can’t find them!” Gilbert explained to the panda bear.
“It’s okay little giraffe. Don’t worry; I saw them go to the left of the zoo. They were okay when I saw them, so don’t worry. Good luck!” Mr. Panda Bear said.
Buttons and Gilbert dashed to the other side of the zoo. Just when they were almost all the way to the left side of the zoo the lion stopped them.
“Excuse me, what are you two doing? You look awfully lost. Can I help you with something?” Lion said.
“No, we are really in a hurry. I’m sorry, we don’t have any time to talk because we are searching for his parents” Buttons told Lion.
“Buttons! He’s really sad! I think we could manage to cheer him up; don’t we have just one second? You should know it’s not nice to leave someone!” Gilbert asked curiously.
“Your parents could possibly be in danger; we should really try to find them!” Buttons said to Gilbert as he grabbed him to rush him along.
“Well that’s a shame. Sometimes I get lonely out here and I need someone to talk to. See let me tell you a story. I was born and raised…” Lion started to say before Buttons interrupted.
“Maybe we can talk to later. You really don’t understand we need to find his parents! I’m really sorry.” Buttons said while he starts to walk away.
Finally making it to the left side of the zoo Gilbert sees the tall, orange neck of his parents through the trees. Buttons and Gilbert both sigh with relief.
“Mom, Dad! Why did you disappear like that?” Gilbert asked.
“We left a note Gilbert! You were sound asleep, but we just got a message from the other giraffe’s that live here this morning. They were going on vacation to Florida and wanted to know if we could take their place in the zoo today. You’re silly! I told you to always read the notes on the refrigerator. You really have to start listening to your parents or these things wouldn’t happen, sweetheart ,” Gilbert’s mother told him with a smirk.
“Well we are glad you are safe. We looked all over for you. We talked to the panda bear and everything!  Next time you should really wake me up and tell me. Come on Buttons; let’s go talk to that lonely lion!” Gilbert said.
