The Bat-Signal

Authors Note:  Every single Batman movie was fake! Joker is much more homacidal, the guy who played him screwed up his laugh, Two-Face never died, and they never chased Batman with hounds- in the comics, the original storylines. Yes, I know I am a dork to be that obbsesed with Batman. Don't say it.

The sigal is bright in the sky, yet Commissioner James Gordan see's no sign that he's coming. He sighed hevily and turned off the Bat-Signal, silently admitting to himself it was a stupid idea to think he'd come.

He turned around, gasping and putting his hand to his heart at the sight of the Caped Crusaider, arms folded and cape blowing in the light wind. "Jim." The familiar deep voice boomed out nonchalantly.

Jim Gordan shook his head and smiled. "You scared me."

"Sorry."

"Doesn't matter."

A comforable silence engulfed the old friends. Batman was the first to break it. "What do you call it?"

"Call what?"

"...."

Jim grinned. "The Bat-Signal?" He patted the old circular shaped skylight with a picture of the Batman logo on it.

"Just in case we need you."

Batman nods. "Wise."

"Thanks... I have a job for you, too, if your interested."

Batman rose silently and made his way to Jim. He doesnt speak as he waits patiently for his friend to go on.

"We got a petty theif thats good at disapearing. Wonder if you can track him down?"  He handed Batman a file before turning away from him to face the city as he stood on the roof of Gotham Police Headquarters.

"His name's Joe Chill. Used to be a small time crook, now he's suddenly swimming with the big fishes. Can you track him down for us, do you think?" Jim turned around to see that Batman had left.

He sighed inwardly.

"I hate it when he does that."
