Waiting in Anticipation

The computer screen haunted my eyes.
Pop-ups saying back and forth
Slow, everything was going very slow.
My ears filled the room as the teacher walked through the door.
I started worrying,
Sweat glittered down my back.
I only had half an hour to do this,
To finish this sour, salted essay.
I tried to look around for a way out.
Run, all I wanted to do was run.
My thoughts echoed in my mind.
“Hurry up” I sang in a melancholy voice.
My feet below the desk nuzzled each other.
I felt my friend’s hand on my shoulder.
Soothing my back,
She whispered in my ear gently
“Just relax, it will end soon.”
Her voice lingered in my ear.
I looked around and saw the girl in front of me,
Her eyes stared back in pain.
I noticed how I was not the only one,
Everyone’s’ computer was like mine.
Gasping for air I looked around,
Relief filled me,
My eyes filled with happiness.
I would get an extra day.
I looked towards my helpful friend,
Joy lit my face.
