Way's the Leaves blow

Right that second I hung up the phone, turned it off and cried. Then it started all over again.
Brittney Lynn. Get down here right now.
She was crazy about every thing. My mother that is. See she married this guy who I really didn’t want in my life at all. So. Yeah she really hates him because she really doesn’t love him anymore but is really scared of what would happen if she told him that. His name is Robert. Robert Poly. What a weird name. And I had to change my name from Brittney Lynn Camble to Brittney Lynn Poly. I hate it. The thing I hate the most is when he hits my half-sister. She is his child but is my mom’s too. So he thinks that he has the power to hurt her. But I really don’t think so.
I remember the first time that he hit her. She had gotten home a little later then he had said. By like 3 minutes. So what. He smacked her as hard as he could. And since she was 13 she was too old for spankings. I could see the tears rising in her eyes. But she held them back, so he would see and make fun of her. That only led to another spanking. But with his belt. That was all I could take so I picked her up and ran her into my car and drove off. He was cussing out side and I could hear him though the windows.
April Cried. Balled her eyes out. She couldn’t stop. So I said to her that everything was going to be alright. That she was going to be fine. And that we had to stop and get gas because I was almost out.
So she went in and bought 2 coffees, 2 subs, a few packs of gum, Gatorade, monsters, and 3 boxes of tissues. While I was getting gas her phone rang and it was mom. So I answered.
“Where are you two? Robert called me and told me that you drove off with her in your car. Are you two okay? I mean are you staying here or at a hotel. If you are staying at a hotel make sure that you only come home tomorrow. Because she would be dead if she came home after the rage in his voice.”
“Mom, did he tell you what happened? I mean he hit her and you are okay with that? Well it depends what she wants to do so I am not making any promises that we are coming home tonight. I will call out of school for April and me so I got to go okay? Love you Mom.”
Love you too sweetie. Tell April the same. Be safe. Bye. Oh and this is between you and me. I wont tell him. Bye Brittney.”
Then April comes out of the 7-Eleven like she came out of a Wal-Mart or something.
“Hey you away?” I yelled across the parking lot, waiting for an answer I knew I wouldn’t get until she got to the car.
Uh-Huh I am going to, only if you are coming with me. I mean I have my cell phone charger in my purse, which is in the backseat, and you have yours too. I think that you can get a job at like McD’s or Wendy’s or something and still go to school and be my mom for the things that you need to be. Like for field trips and all of that stuff. You know like how you are anyways.”
I smiled. “ Mom called asking if we where going to come home and said that it would be best if you stayed out of the house for about 3 days so I will go to a hotel outta town for about a week with you. And she also said that I would have to come and get your stuff. So I will grab your car keys for your future car and give them to Zach to drive to the hotel so we can get everything out tonight. I am the only one going in the house tonight so I am only getting the things that we are going to need for about a month, but we are only staying at the hotel for a week. Understand?”
“ So if I get this right, you are going to help me run away?” she said with confusion all over her face.
“ Yup, I am going to call Zach and tell him that I am on my way over so he can drive the truck with a bunch of our stuff in the bed of it. Okay? Are you okay with this?”
Yeah! I hate Robert!” I love how she calls him Robert instead of dad.
“Well we are on our way then. So I will drop you off at the hotel and I will go get clothes toothpaste and stuff like that. Want anything in particular?”
Yeah, my areopostale clothes and Hollister clothes. Grab all of the stuff outta my nightstands and dresser. Don’t worry about the stuff in the closet just yet I think that you can get it tomorrow when he…” I cut her off right there.
“You are amazing April. Brilliant. We can both go in the house when he is at work so you can get your stuff and I can get mine. Zach can stay with us tonight and then help us tomorrow.”
Yeah but Zach wont want to stay at the hotel with us. He has school tomorrow that he cant call off.”
Welcome to my world! Oh My Gosh! If I can call you off dummy I can call him off just as easy! Der. I mean really even you could have thought of that.
